We go through a series of exercises to reinforce yielding to pressure.  The goal is to use as little pressure as possible to achieve a desired response ...

We aren't perfect yet ... but we're trying ...

This filly loses focus and decides to rear ...

This is unacceptable and dangerous behavior, so I send her away with language she clearly understands.

I mean far away- back to your mama ...

Just like the colt on page 2, though, it isn't long before she is back and ready to re-engage.  She wants to be part of the group ... she wants to be at the party (as a show horse, she will want to be where the action is, not in her stall).  We have reinforced the point that I am dominant and I am her leader.  This will make my life much easier when I want to get one her back.  As a matter of fact, getting on her back will be a non-issue.

When she is ready to play nice, I welcome her.

Let's work on an easy task that we can get right and end on a good note.  By now, whoa is pretty easy.

And, of course, that means big applause.
